We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the public website. Please do not send health, financial-account, government-identification or other sensitive information unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure process.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information directly from you when you contact us, request information or a quotation, enter into a commercial relationship, apply for a position, visit our facility or otherwise communicate with us. We may also receive business contact information from your employer, an authorized representative, a referral source, a logistics or commercial partner, publicly available professional sources, or another member of our corporate group where lawful and relevant.

Our website and service providers may automatically generate limited technical and security information when you access the site. Where the site uses technology that includes functions allowing an individual to be identified, located or profiled, the cookie settings tool or a contextual notice explains the use of that technology and the means available to activate functions that are not strictly necessary.

Our website may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies required for security, network management, accessibility, basic functionality and the storage of privacy choices. These technologies do not require consent where they are genuinely necessary for a service requested by the user.

Visitors can refuse or withdraw consent without losing access to basic website content. The cookie settings tool should identify the cookies currently in use, their providers, purposes and durations.

Browser controls may also allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may affect particular site functions. Changes made through the site’s cookie settings apply to the browser and device used to make the choice.

8. Video Surveillance at Our Facility

For safety, security, access control and loss-prevention purposes, the Thornloe facility and surrounding property are monitored by video surveillance and recorded 24 hours a day. Cameras may capture persons, vehicles and licence plates in entrances, exits, yards, parking and loading areas, production and warehouse areas, corridors and other security-sensitive locations. Cameras are not intentionally placed in washrooms, change rooms or similar private areas. We do not use covert audio recording or biometric facial-recognition identification under this policy.

Routine recordings are normally retained for up to 30 calendar days and then securely overwritten or deleted. Relevant footage may be preserved for longer when connected to an incident, claim, investigation, access request, litigation hold or legal requirement. Access is restricted to authorized personnel. Recordings may be disclosed where reasonably required to law enforcement, insurers, legal counsel, regulators or emergency services. Service providers may use personal information only to provide contracted services or as otherwise permitted by law. We do not sell personal information.

10. International Transfers

BC Global Energy Inc. is located in Canada and uses suppliers and commercial partners that may process information in Canada, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, the United States or other jurisdictions relevant to a transaction or delivery. Privacy laws in those jurisdictions may differ from the laws where you live, and information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or public authorities in accordance with local law.

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies to a restricted international transfer, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision or implement an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as approved standard contractual clauses, together with supplementary safeguards where required. The European Commission’s adequacy decision for Canada applies to transfers received by Canadian commercial organizations where the information is subject to PIPEDA. Information about applicable safeguards may be requested at privacy@bcglobal.energy.

12. Security Safeguards

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including role-based access, individual credentials, access restrictions, secure systems, backup and recovery controls, confidentiality requirements and staff awareness measures. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. If we identify a privacy or security incident, we will investigate, contain and document it and make notifications where required by applicable law.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask whether we process personal information about you and request access to it;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion or restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests and object at any time to direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
  • request, where the legal conditions are met, portability of information in a structured, commonly used technological format; and
  • complain to an appropriate privacy or data-protection authority.

These rights may be subject to legal exceptions, including the rights of other individuals, confidentiality, legal privilege, record-retention duties and the establishment or defence of legal claims. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity and locate responsive records. Requests should be sent to privacy@bcglobal.energy.

If GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we normally respond within one month, subject to permitted extensions for complex requests. Under PIPEDA and applicable Quebec privacy law, we respond within the periods required by law. We do not charge a fee except where permitted by law.

14. Complaints

Please contact our Privacy Officer first so that we can review and address your concern. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where PIPEDA applies or to Quebec’s Commission d’accès à l’information where Quebec privacy law applies. If GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work or where the alleged infringement occurred. Contacting us does not limit your right to approach a competent authority.

15. Children

Our website and products are directed to businesses and adult customers and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@bcglobal.energy so that we can assess and delete it where appropriate.

16. Automated Decisions

We do not use personal information collected through the website to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. If this practice changes, we will provide the information required by law, including information about the decision, the principal factors and parameters involved, and the right to correct the information used.

17. Other Websites

Our website may contain links to websites operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of external websites merely because we provide a link to them.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our operations, services, technology or legal requirements. The current version will be published on our website with its effective or last-updated date. Where a change materially affects how we use information previously collected, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
